Let me introduce myself : My name is Caroline, I am French and I am gonna stay 4 months in La Quesería La Antigua de Fuentesaúco.
Last week, I had the pleasure to go to a school to learn to the kids how to make cheese. The truth is that I have learned at the same time !
“Let’s go for the adventure”
#LaAntiguaEduca : this program launched 4 months ago, consists in transmitting to the kids the culture of cheese. Demonstration, video, tasting, kids help, everything is planned to make the presentation funny for the kids.
At first, we give them our so cool bib. Now, the lesson can start. To make it more playful, we ask questions to the kids about milk and cheese. But they already have lots of knowledge. At the question :
” – Why the milk is hot when the shepherd milk the sheep ? ” a kid has answered :
” Because the milk has the same temperature than the body of the sheep”… Yeah ! they already know lots of things.
Kids won a reward, a sample of our cheese to bring back home, after each good answer. Some questions will go down in history :
“- Where does the milk come from?
– From the fridge!”
What it is new for them (and for me), was the making of the cheese. And what is better than a demonstration to learn?
After heating up our milk at 32°C (sheep body temperature), we have to mix it with the rennet, which come from a plant or the stomach of the lamb. We have to leave aside and then to cup up the mixture in order to take off the whey.
And now, the best moment : Degustation of our cheese with chocolate, caramel or strawberry:
And because they have been as good as gold, we are pleased to offer them a chocolate fountain. Don’t forget : #LaAntiguaEduca
