What happened at the IV Congreso Cocina con Queso y Humor?

A few hours have passed since the IV Congreso Cocina con Queso y Humor that we lived yesterday October 26th in Peñaranda de Bracamonte (Salamanca) where cheese, black pudding, farinato and above all humor were the main protagonists of the night.

The day had finally arrived, after a very long wait of a year…a year organizing everything, invitations, winners, contacting our friends the cooks…We started the day with a lot of nerves and desire to make everything perfect for our guests to have a great time.

It’s a pleasure to work with this great team, or rather, family, because that’s what we already are. We’re not only talking about #EquipoLaAntigua, but also Hergaher, CITA, Helio Flores, the rest of the cooks… thank you all so much for helping so much in that unseen part of an event but which is fundamental for everything to go well and for people to enjoy. Exactly, from the organization of before, during and after. Prepare lights, microphones, covers, tables, entrances, pick up…

As the hour drew near, everyone, including the Calderón de Peñaranda theater, we put on our best clothes and with all the illusion to welcome our 300 guests who did not hesitate to come and enjoy with us the fourth edition of the Congreso Cocina con Queso y Humor.

Fran Perea was the great presenter of the gala, he didn’t sing the “1+1 are 7” but he was great, always aware of all the details of the gala. We would like to thank him for the great job he did.

The Calderón theater was shaking with applause and laughter from the audience thanks to Quique Matilla . We also want to thank him for his sympathy and his appearances that made the gala more than ever of #QuesoyHumor.

And the best was yet to come…theTAPAS! the great protagonists of the evening, with the great chefs at the helm of the stoves preparing them: Helio Flores, Charo Val, Rebeca Hernández, Alfonso García, Leticia Martín and Adrián Casado. Thank you so much for coming from so far away to join us and make us enjoy your art.

And I could not end the night without the awards ceremony. It was the most moving moment of the night, one of those moments that make your eyes water, for his humility, his strength in his speeches, for dedicating his life with passion to a wonderful reason.

This year, the Farinato Ambassador Award went to the School of Hotel Management of Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca). For his commitment and for giving light to the farinato. Congratulations!

The Traditional Shepherd Award was granted to Benjamín Herrero for a lifetime dedicated to shepherding, specifically since he was 12 years old, highlighting the value of this hard work.

On the other hand, the New Shepherds Award was presented to the company Xesmogal S.L. , which has managed to modernize this traditional world with technological innovations but without forgetting the usual care and attention to detail.

And finally, the Commitment Award went to Lorenzo Sanchidrián, for his work and constant support for the work of the Antigua cheese cutters. A man who has taken Spanish gastronomy and, more specifically, Iberian ham to the highest level in the world.
