According to the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), up to May of this year, 185,128,826 liters of sheep’s milk were produced in Spain , 120,455,982 of which in Castilla y León, representing 65% of total national production.

In the month of May alone, 32,501,353 liters of sheep’s milk were produced in Castilla y León, making it the month of highest production this year.
It should also be noted that sheep farmers in Castilla y León ( 2,548) represent 61.4% of the total number of sheep farmers in our country (4,152).
The second region in terms of sheep milk production volume in Spain is Castilla La Mancha, with 45,955,465 liters in the first five months of the year (only slightly more than a third of the production of Castilla La Mancha in the same period).

As for the price of milkAccording to the FEGA, this reached a maximum value in JanuaryThe production of the year was the lowest in the period under analysis, at 0.961 euros per liter on average in Spain (0.888 euros per liter in Castilla y León). On the contrary, the price of sheep’s milk reached a minimum in April with 0.879 and 0.824 euros per liter on average in Spain and Castilla y León, respectively.
