At present, Spanishdairy farms are not allowed to sell raw milk or raw cream to the final consumer. Something that is being worked on to change it and to be able to reach it.
Since 2006, European health regulations have given Member States the right to regulate the sale of raw milk to the final consumer or to retail establishments.
More than half of the European Union countries carry out this type of marketing, Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom being examples. Pending approval of the Royal Decree, drawn up by the competent authorities, to level the playing field for livestock producers and consumers consumers consumers.

Such marketing may be regulated by each Member State, as set forth in Article 10 of Regulation (EC) No. 83. Item 8.a. It allows the sale
the sale of raw milk to the
of raw milk to the final consumer, through an establishment authorized by the regulation, that is, if it is marketed from a point of sale with “sanitary registration”, as may be the case with a
cheese factory
.
In Spain, Royal Decree 640/2006 prohibits the direct sale of raw milk if it is sold at the farm. In other words, the farmer cannot sell to the final consumer, or to establishments that supply final consumers.

This prohibition has no scientific basis, since it has not been proven that the direct sale of livestock
livestock
of raw milk carries greater risks. Milk sold in an establishment with European authorization does not receive any additional treatment. This means that it comes from a farm that complies with the hygiene requirements established in Regulation (EC) N 853/2004.
Our country is more than 12 years behind in the marketing of raw milk from the farms, something we hope will be solved soon, in order to be able to be on an equal footing with respect to the Member States.
