When we walk around the supermarket shelves we find different types of milk: whole, skimmed, growth for the little ones, etc. But which one is best for us?
There has always been debate about the consumption and benefits of milk, since there is such a wide range on the market that the direct consumer has doubts. There comes a time when he does not know which milk is right for him, or if it is good to drink it every day or in stages such as old age.
What type of milk should I drink every day?
We must be clear that milk is a staple food for all ages. Thanks to its intake we obtain a complete supply of vitamins and proteins. As for the type of milk, whole milk is adequate, except for those people who, due to certain health problems, must drink another of the different types.
In case of having cholesterol or being on a diet, whole milk is completely suitable, since the dietary cholesterol it contains has nothing to do with blood cholesterol.
But what about for the little ones? There are growing-up milks on the market that have reduced protein content. The amount of protein in whole milk is too high for them. However, it should be noted that this milk is intended for children over twelve months of age. There are even experts who say they should drink whole milk from the age of three.
Last but not least, vegetable milks are very fashionable. We have talked about them on other occasions, and we call them vegetable beverages, since they do not meet the basic requirements to be called milk.
In addition, according to Ana Moreno (La Coruña Hospital Complex), their protein intake is insufficient and some of them have a high sugar content.
Walking down the dairy aisle in the supermarket becomes an adventure because of the wide variety of different types of milk available. What will we find next?
