III Congreso Cocina con Queso y Humor

It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the II Congreso Cocina con Queso y Humor and we are already preparing the third one!!! Yes, as you can hear, on the 15th, in the Calderón Theater of Peñaranda de Bracamonte, Salamanca, we will celebrate our third edition.

Last year we had the collaboration of Helio Flores, Facyre ‘s new ambassador and owner of Laboratorio Gastronómico Los Alamos, and our friends from Mares Virtuales and CITA (International Center for Advanced Technologies).

All of them are still with us this year, but this time, our III Congreso Cocina con Queso y Humor will have a new sponsor, our friends Raúl and Gemma, from Hergaher. In the second edition, they collaborated by offering us their products at the cocktail party after the Congress, and they liked it so much that this year they are helping us to organize this show, which will certainly not disappoint anyone!

We don’t want to give away too many surprises, but we will tell you that we will once again be giving away 3 prizes.

The first, the Commitment Award, will be a recognition for that #LaAntigua client who, in addition to trusting in our sheep’s milk cheese, trusts us and acquires the commitment to carry our brand values with them. The second and third New Shepherds Award and Traditional Shepherd Award will go to those who either have been with the sheep all their lives, or have just started, and who dedicate all their effort and ultimately their lives to the sheep. Being a shepherd is a daily job, without rest, and one that is rarely appreciated by anyone but your animals. For this reason, and because from La Antigua we value and understand thanks to our grandparents, we want to dedicate this small thank you for their good work on a daily basis.

In addition, this year we have a new award. Hergaher will also appoint its new ambassador, and will present the Farinato Ambassador Award 2016. On the 15th we will find out who are the lucky ones…

La Antigua New Shepherds Award

But in addition to awards, another of the pillars of this Congress are the chefs. You already know that from La Antigua we value and believe it is important to support them in order to spread the cheese culture. We can’t tell you what the covers will be, but we can tell you who the protagonists will be.

Helio Flores, who in addition to being a sponsor of the Congress will show us one of his tapas, and we can’t even imagine what’s going on in his head, because if there’s one thing he’s capable of, it’s always surprising us! He will be accompanied by Teo Marcos, bartender at Los Alamos, who will also make one of the cocktails that will be prepared at this Congress for the first time.

Julio Macias will be another of the protagonists. In his resume he has the experience of having worked as head chef in several restaurants in Madrid with only 23 years old. He was also head of oriental cuisine at the Japanese tavern “Wabi Sabi” and currently holds his position at “La Picara” in Valladolid”.

We will also be accompanied by another of the greats, Roberto Capone, also a Facyre ambassador and current chef and owner of “LaAntigua Tahona”, an Italian restaurant like him, in the heart of the mountains of Madrid, in Rascafría. It is not the first time that he accompanies us and as we know what he is capable of doing we know that he will leave us with our mouths open.

One more year the Escuela de Hostelería de Santa Marta will participate. David Martin Berrocal and Adrián Casado Navas will be in charge of cooking on stage, and if last year they surprised us with the dessert, this year we expect no less! Two great chefs in Salamanca. The “Lilicook” is their work center, a surprising place, where they play with gastronomy like nowhere else in Salamanca.

Another newcomer this year is Jesús Lopez, current head chef at Doze in Salamanca. Another place where we feel at home and it is hard to resist the temptation to visit. He will be joined on stage by Victor Martín, owner of the restaurant, and David Rodriguez, who will be the second cocktail protagonist of the congress. He has been working at Doze for 5 years and is currently in charge of cocktails and mixed drinks. He is passionate about his work, always looking for new flavors.

And finally we could not forget the other product sponsor of the Congress, the farinato! On this occasion it will be Alvaro Plaza from the Restaurant “Etxanobe” who will prepare the tapa with this product so typical of our land.
