A few days ago we celebrated our III Congress of Cooking with Cheese and Humor, and as we did in the II Edition, this time we also wanted to highlight the figure of the shepherds.
Starting from the beginning, on November 15 we returned to Peñaranda, a town where they make us feel at home year after year. There, in the previous edition, we presented our first awards to the shepherds in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to what is most important to them and to us, the sheep. This year, in what we want to become a tradition and an example to follow, we presented the second prizes to the Traditional Shepherd and New Shepherds.

The winner of the Traditional Shepherd Award was Eduardo Sánchez, for a lifetime dedicated to his sheep, mostly of the Castilian breed. We could tell you many things about him, but it’s better if he does it himself, isn’t it? Do not miss this video where he explains his daily life and how he receives this award from Gestión Agro Ganadera.
The second prize, for the New Shepherds, went to Rosa de Granja Piedra Sociedad Cooperativa. And this award has two meanings, one is the introduction of new technologies in the cooperative to improve the quality of life of the shepherd, making the daily work much easier and more accessible, and secondly, for being a shepherdess in a traditionally male world. The world of the countryside and livestock has always been associated with man, and in this case, Rosa has shown us that the world is for those who put their will and effort into it. For all these reasons, a well-deserved recognition. Don’t miss this video where she shows us her day to day life.
As she herself says, “the awards always like”, so we are already thinking about our fourth edition, because the profession of shepherd has to have its recognition and from Gestión Agro Ganadera our mission is to value this profession that we carry in our genes. For the moment, congratulations to the 2016 winners! and see you next time….
