Quesería La Antigua joins Pyfano’ s project (Association of children with cancer of Castilla y León) with the donation of 2,900 euros for the Humanization and Sweetening of Spaces of the Pediatric Oncology Ward of the New Hospital of Salamanca.

The Quesería La Antigua family could not be absent from this ambitious program that seeks to “to promote the quality of life and care of oncology children, their families and health personnel, creating a pleasant atmosphere and generating positive feelings, conditioning the pediatric oncohematology area in which children from all over Castilla y León will be treated at CAUSA, the new Health Care Complex in Salamanca”.

Quesería La Antigua finances one of the boxes

The collaboration of Quesería La Antigua is materialized with the full financing of one of the boxes 2,900, which will go towards the creation of the “Oncology Unit” of the health center. “The poetry and literature box of the GACHs. (Curarte Gallery in the Hospital de Salamanca) is a meeting place with the letters. In the boxes children undergoing cancer treatment spend a lot of time each day, this box has been transformed into a wall alphabet that reviews great works of children’s literature, stories, poems, riddles, hours and hours of fun and reading. The box has a small library with books chosen for different ages, as well as a panel with QRs so they can listen to, read or watch the works mentioned in the alphabet.”

Quesería La Antigua’s support will be reflected in its in the smiles of children when they begin to enjoy GAChs The first “Cuidarte Gallery in the hospital of Salamanca” An art gallery that is created among all the little patients who visit it, and that changes every time its visitors change. Its walls are murals that invite you to connect and play with each other through artistic expression, to express your emotions and to understand the emotions of others either by creating a new work or by contemplating existing works.

The humanization and softening of these spaces will not only benefit the children of Salamanca, but also all those who need a bone marrow transplant, who will be referred to a reference hospital for this treatment. In Castilla y León, at least 50 cases are diagnosed in minors per year according to the regional tumor registry. The treatments have a duration of between 2 and 5 years, so that “in the first year of the project alone, 250 oncohematological children in the region could benefit,” according to Pyfano. Hence the importance of the project they have launched, since “numerous studies show the benefits of humanization for the reduction of pain, due to its therapeutic nature”.

Social responsibility actions

Knowing that this is the biggest challenge that the Association has undertaken so far, Quesería La Antigua has not hesitated to offer its support to Pyfano, within the actions of social responsibility that we carry out intensifying our commitment in these difficult times to support NGOs and non-profit organizations.
